Phosgene formation via carbon monoxide and dichlorine reaction over an activated carbon catalyst: Towards a reaction model

نویسندگان

چکیده

The reaction of carbon monoxide and dichlorine over an activated (Donau Supersorbon K40) to produce phosgene is examined. Individual reagent product breakthrough measurements the clean catalyst establish magnitude adsorption coefficients (K) follow trend: KCl2 > KCOCl2 >> KCO. Chlorine indicate a distribution active sites that conforms two-site model, with classified according their enthalpy adsorption. At 323 K, Type-I Type-II exhibit respective capacities 2.8 ± 0.3 1.5 0.4 mmol Cl2 g?1cat. Post-reaction temperature-programmed desorption alongside elemental analysis (SEM-EDAX) confirm presence retained chlorine moieties at surface. These observations are rationalised within postulated scheme accounts for sustained synthesis selected carbon.

Nuclear Reaction Rates and Carbon Star Formation

We have studied how the third dredge-up and the carbon star formation in low-mass Asymptotic Giant Branch stars depends on certain key nuclear reaction rates. We find from a set of complete stellar evolution calculations of a 2M⊙ model with Z = 0.01 including mass loss, that varying either the N(p, γ)O or the triple-α reaction rate within their uncertainties as given in the NACRE compilation re...

Direct carbon-carbon bond formation via soft enolization: a biomimetic asymmetric Mannich reaction of phenylacetate thioesters.

An asymmetric Mannich reaction of phenylacetate thioesters and sulfonylimines using cinchona alkaloid-based amino (thio)urea catalysts is reported that employs proximity-assisted soft enolization. This approach to enolization is based on the cooperative action of a carbonyl-activating hydrogen bonding (thio)urea moiety and an amine base contained within a single catalytic entity to facilitate i...

Catalytic Studies of Sodium Hydroxide and Carbon Monoxide Reaction

We have studied the effect of ball milling on alumina mixed nickel, magnetite and Raney nickel on the reaction: 2NaOH(s) + CO (g) = Na2CO3 (s) + H2 (g) and determined the optimum particle size for the catalysts. The best performance was shown by a 2 h ball milled Raney nickel with average crystallite size of 209 Å. This reaction serves the dual purpose of carbon sequestration and yielding hydro...
